SureHire explains American National Standards Institute

It is important to note that ANSI does not actually develop the standards they monitor and certify. Instead, member entities submit standards that ANSI may accept or reject. ANSI is part of a larger global standards group, the International Standards Organization (ISO), and helps to keep U.S. based companies relevant in the global marketplace.

This organization was developed to ensure that all products and services adhere to a set standard of guidelines regarding health and safety. It is the mission of ANSI, to improve the global competitiveness of U.S. business, as well as to enhance the quality of life for all consumers worldwide. This is achieved by promoting voluntary consensus standards and conformity assessment systems. By doing this, ANSI protects the integrity of all products and services provided to consumers by all companies involved.
